As a form of concern and commitment to communities affected by disasters, the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Syiah Kuala, carried out a Community Service activity in the form of a humanitarian action dedicated to supporting children in Aceh. This activity took place on February 4, 2026, at MIN 5 Pidie Jaya, one of the areas impacted by the flood disaster in Aceh, Sumatera.
The flood disaster not only caused damage to infrastructure but also had significant psychological and social impacts, particularly on school-aged children. In response to this situation, the Department of Statistics FMIPA USK took the initiative to contribute to post-disaster recovery efforts, focusing on providing moral support and essential aid to the students.
The activity included the distribution of assistance such as school supplies, basic necessities, and motivational support to encourage students to remain enthusiastic about learning despite the challenging circumstances. In addition, the community service team engaged directly with the students through educational and recreational activities aimed at helping to reduce trauma caused by the disaster.
Through this initiative, a total donation of Rp 40,150,000 was successfully collected. The funds were utilized to procure educational equipment and school supplies, including school uniforms, study desks, and prayer kits for the students of MIN 5 Pidie Jaya.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that the assistance provided will help ease the burden of the affected community and inspire children at MIN 5 Pidie Jaya to continue learning and recovering from the aftermath of the disaster. This activity also reflects the tangible role of academia in serving society and strengthening the values of humanity and social solidarity.
The Department of Statistics FMIPA Universitas Syiah Kuala remains committed to actively contributing to community service initiatives, particularly in emergency response and post-disaster recovery, as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
