Banda Aceh, September 24, 2025 — The Department of Statistics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Syiah Kuala University (USK), joined forces with PT Jasa Raharja Aceh Regional Office to organize a Traffic Safety Seminar under the theme “Stay Focused on the Road, Smooth in Your Studies.” The event was held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the FMIPA Theater Room, in collaboration with PT Capella Dinamik Nusantara and the Banda Aceh City Traffic Police (Satlantas Polresta Banda Aceh).
The seminar was attended by 100 students from the Department of Statistics, who showed remarkable enthusiasm throughout the program. The initiative aimed to raise awareness among young people—especially students—about the importance of traffic safety as a tangible effort to reduce traffic accidents and minimize fatal incidents on the road.
In her opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Zurnila Marli Kesuma, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Department of Statistics FMIPA USK, expressed her appreciation for the successful organization of the event. She emphasized that traffic safety is not only a matter of self-protection but also a form of social responsibility. Prof. Zurnila highlighted that discipline on the road reflects discipline in life, serving as a crucial foundation for academic success and a brighter future.
The seminar featured speakers from PT Jasa Raharja Aceh, Banda Aceh Traffic Police, and PT Capella Dinamik Nusantara, each presenting insights aligned with their area of expertise. The speakers discussed a range of topics, including road safety awareness, traffic regulations, responsible driving behavior, and joint efforts to reduce accident rates among young people.
Adding an interactive dimension, selected students from the Department of Statistics also participated in practical demonstrations and awareness activities, putting the concepts of road safety into practice. This hands-on approach helped reinforce the key messages of the seminar, encouraging students to become ambassadors of safety within their communities.
The entire event proceeded smoothly and meaningfully from start to finish. Participants remained highly attentive and engaged, creating a lively and interactive atmosphere. The presentations broadened students’ understanding of the critical role of traffic safety in daily life—particularly for university students who frequently commute. Excitement peaked during the discussion session, where students actively asked insightful and thought-provoking questions on real-life traffic issues and preventive strategies. Their engagement reflected a strong desire to not only absorb information but also deepen their comprehension of how safety awareness can protect lives and foster a more responsible academic community.
Through this collaboration, the Department of Statistics and its partners reaffirmed their shared commitment to educating the next generation about responsible behavior on and off the road, while strengthening the role of universities in promoting public awareness and social responsibility.
