Banda Aceh, August 17, 2025 — The Statistics Student Association (HIMASTA) of Syiah Kuala University (USK), under the Department of Statistics, proudly hosted its flagship annual event, Statistics Explore 2025, an academic celebration with both national and international reach. This year’s grand theme, “Economic Stability Through the Power of Big Data: Innovative Strategies for Building a Resilient and Sustainable Economy,” highlights the vital role of Big Data as a strategic force in shaping innovation for economic resilience and long-term sustainability.

The opening ceremony took place on Wednesday, August 17, 2025, at the Auditorium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) USK. The event was officially inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Taufiq Fuadi Abidin, S.Si., M.Tech., Dean of FMIPA USK, and is scheduled to run for two days, culminating on August 18, 2025.Statistics Explore 2025 features a dynamic series of programs, including the Big Data Competition, Videographic Contest, Data Science Competition, International Student Forum, and National Seminar.

In his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Taufiq Fuadi Abidin, fondly known as Prof. Taufiq, expressed his deep appreciation for the successful organization of this major event. He emphasized that Statistics Explore is not merely a competition but also a platform for learning, collaboration, and innovation—an avenue for students to sharpen their data analysis skills in response to global challenges. “Statistics Explore should be more than just a contest—it’s a forum for ideas, creativity, and innovation. Through this platform, we hope to see new insights emerge that contribute to economic stability and sustainable development while strengthening the role of statistics students on both national and international stages,” he stated.

This year’s program also featured a special lecture session by Prof. Fabrizio Ruggeri, President-Elect of the International Statistical Institute (ISI). The event welcomed distinguished speakers, including Dr. Bagus Sartono, S.Si., M.Si., Chairman of the Indonesian Statistics Higher Education Forum (FORSTAT), and Dr. Suwandi, Ak., MM., CA., Executive Director of Surveillance, Data, and Insurance Examination at the Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS), who delivered insightful presentations during the National Seminar.

The opening ceremony was vibrant and lively, attended by more than 300 participants in both offline and online formats, reflecting strong enthusiasm from students, academics, and professionals across the country. In her closing statement, Prof. Dr. Zurnila Marli Kesuma, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Department of Statistics at USK, conveyed her hopes that Statistics Explore will continue to serve not only as a space for competition but also as a hub for learning, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas among students, scholars, and practitioners. She further emphasized that the effective use of Big Data should lead to innovative strategies that foster both economic stability and sustainable growth.
